Sometimes in the summer the sun can get so high that it can actually affect your garage door functioning properly. There have been cases where the garage door opener refuses to pick up the signal when the sun is shining directly on it. If this happens to you, more than likely just shading the sensor will be enough to get it working right again.
Another important thing to keep in mind is keeping the garage door closed as much as possible during the hottest parts of the day. The heat can easily seep in through the garage and into you home if you don’t keep the garage door closed.
